Equitable partnerships

How power, trust, resources and accountability are shared between international, national and local actors.

Equity in a partnership is reflected in everyday arrangements: who defines objectives, negotiates terms, controls resources and can challenge a decision. Trust needs to be supported by clear roles, fair processes and opportunities for mutual accountability.

Questions for practice

Who negotiates the partnership agreement? Are roles and budgets developed jointly? How are overheads, visibility and learning opportunities shared? Can partners raise concerns without jeopardising funding?

What ILLA explores

ILLA explores partnership models, shared decision-making and the organisational systems that shape collaboration. We look at how international, national and local actors can review their relationships and agree changes together.
